The Trail
Name: West Baldy Trail #94 (starts at Sheep's Crossing) Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous
Length of Hike (r/t):  14 miles Trail Elevation Change: 2,203ft.
Water: Yes, West Fork of the Little Colorado River (non-potable) Trailhead Elevation: 9,000 ft.
Tips: The trail merges with the East Baldy trail at a saddle near the top of Mt. Thomas. The top of Mt. Baldy is on White Mountain Apache Tribe Land, and access is not permitted. We urge hikers to respect the tribe's sacred ground, and warn you that you can be fined for trespassing.

Hiking Permit Needed: None from the Forest Service. Hike ends at the Forest Service Boundary. Large fines can be levied for trespassing on White Mountain Apache Tribal land near summit. Maximum Group Size: 12
Dogs Permitted: Yes, leashed. Horses Permitted: No.
Cross-country Skiing Permitted:  Yes. Mountain Bikes Permitted: No.
Safety Tips: Steep drop-off  along trail. Bring warm clothing and raingear any time of year. Snowfields and drifts may block the trail as late as June. Please sign in at the trailhead register
